Top 5 tips to get some space (from salespeople!) in 2016!!
1. Telephone salespeople: Get on the Do Not Call register! It’s a free service and stops telesales people contacting you.
2. Door to Door Salespeople: In my suburb these are the electricity and telecommunications sales people. They try to get you to sign up to their company on the spot. Sign the register, get an ugly sticker and get rid of them.
3. Get rid of your junk email. All of those companies that you have given your email address to over the years. If you’re with Gmail (yay!) start with your junk settings. Then get onto a free app that cuts out junk mail.
This app gets them gone.
4. Physical junk mail in your letterbox: It’s a HUGE waste of paper and an environmental scourge. Sign up to an e-catalogue company like lassoo and get those papers out of your letterbox.
5. Flyers from distribution companies: These are flyers that people print up and pay someone to walk around and stick them in your letterbox. Get a free sticker from the Australian Catalogue Association.

Beautiful Christmas Baking

I’m just finishing off my last few baked Christmas treats and these last biscuits have been SO easy that I feel I must share the recipe.

Makes approx 25 biscuits

– 2 egg whites
– 125g almond meal
– 1 cup caster sugar (would you believe I scored the last bag in the shops today?  I guess I’m not the only one doing some Christmas baking)
– 1/4 cup sifted plain flour (there was no sifting going on at my house)
– Vanilla essence
– Whole almonds for decoration

1. Heat oven to 185C
2. Place all ingredients in the bowl of an electric mixer and beat together for 5 minutes
3. Allow mixture to rest for another 5 minutes
4. Roll into little balls and place on baking paper lined baking tray
5. Place an almond in the centre of each biscuit
6. Bake for 12 – 15 minutes or lightly browned
7. Remove from the oven and cool slightly before placing on racks

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas

I LOVE Christmas.

Merry Christmas!!!

I can’t really pinpoint what it is that I love about Christmas, but one of my favourite parts it wrapping presents.  I like to decorate my own paper, make my own tags and ribbon wrap to my hearts content.

Last year I made some stamps and stamped away on some brown paper:

  More wrapping paper!

Then I made my own tags:
Present 1 of 1 bazillion. Whose idea was it to make their own paper...

Now, wrapping isn’t everyones cup of tea, last year someone asked if I realised one could buy wrapping paper at the dollar store.  Yes, of course I know that, it’s just that I don’t want to do that.

I haven’t actually bought any presents yet.  I don’t think.  Sometimes I buy them early, put them away and then forget that I bought anything at all.  Hopefully I’m not in that state this Christmas.  I have however started making some tags.
I need to make my christmas cards, but am procrastinating so I made some tags today.

If you would like to use them you can download them here.

Better get moving on those Christmas cards!

At home drawing pictures of mountain tops

What was your first music purchase?
Mine was Pearl Jam’s Ten.  My favourite track at the time was Jeremy.
I love to draw and paint.  My problem is that nothing comes out the finished-end looking as good as I would like.  I think that is my nature.  Gotta practice my ‘meh’ and move on.

An old precious friend recently said that she wished we lived closer so we could get together and make jam, pies and laugh.  I would love this to happen.

My heart wants to break free of my chest and fly to her kitchen across the seas.

Sometimes I get SO homesick.

This is where I grew up, Bowen Island:

I spent many Halloween nights standing behind the chains in the above photo watching the fireworks.  Everyone of those nights I would burn my tongue on the HOT chocolate provided by the fire department.

This is the almost view from the deck of our house.

Now seasons change and I am still the same
I dont belong to anyone
Still a piece of me will always be

A recent sketch that I’m not all that happy with, but I need to get over it.  Things can only get better.

Things can only get better

On a completely separate note, my son tells me that his favourite food is pizza.  But not the pizza I make, his favourite is the pizza from the shops.  Apparently I don’t know how to do the burnt bits like they do.  Seriously!!?

Off to the beach!
